After extended COVID lockdown I broke out of an artistic slump, took a plane to Milan then a train to the Italian Riviera. I stayed midway between Genoa and the French border in an area filled with medieval sights off the winter tourist trail. For nearly two weeks I sketched castles and the wonderful people of this part of the world – isolated from the hustle of city life.
